Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC)

Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) is a government entity under Department of Labour & Occupational Safety housed within the Ministry of Labour, Employment & Social Security in Nepal having its principal place of business at Saibu, Bhaisepati, Lalitpur, Nepal.

Vision: To protect and promote the Physical, Mental and Social well-being and Physical safety of the workers involved in any business, while developing Safety and Health-related Culture, to establish this Center as a competent and resource-rich center for the use of all possible measures to improve the workplace of industrial establishments.

Missions:

  1. To protect and promote the safety and health of workers at the workplace and issues related to the workplace that directly or indirectly affect industrial productivity, for the prevention, control and reduction of occupational accidents and diseases,
  2.  To develop the necessary policy and institutional tripartite mechanism and to prepare basic infrastructures for its effective operation,
  3. To establish necessary tripartite cooperation and coordination

Objectives/Term of References

  1. To implement related Laws, Rules & Regulations, Codes of practice, Guidelines and Standards for the promotion of occupational safety and health at the workplace.
  2. Assisting in regular and systematic workplace inspection and monitoring for the implementation of legal provisions of workplace reform.
  3. In order to protect and promote the health and safety of workers at the workplace, regularly and systematically monitor the workplace and provide necessary consultation services about the possible options for improvement.
  4. To establish Center as a full of resources and information for the protection and promotion of the health and safety of workers at the workplace and to establish a proper mechanism for the flow of necessary information.
  5. To establish as a resource center for necessary training and training for all parties concerned for the protection and promotion of health and safety of workers at the workplace.

Physical Infrastructures

  1. The Center has its own well-equipped building to conduct and cope with TOR & the targeted programs effectively.
  2. According to the work of this center, there is a Chemical Analysis laboratory, Mechanical Exhibition laboratory, Hygiene laboratory and Health laboratory with basic equipment for workplace monitoring and examination.
  3. Two training Hall have been arranged for conducting the training program at the center.
  4. Necessary infrastructure for conducting residential training at Center.
